Project aim - in English

In 2010 EVA conducts a survey of master programmes taught in English. The survey looks into the quality of the teaching in English at Danish master programmes in which all modules are offered in English. The Danish University and Property Agency has asked EVA to carry out the survey.

When English is used as the language of instruction in otherwise Danish educational programmes it may affect the quality of the teaching. Therefore, it is relevant to look into which problems might occur, and how the universities deal with these challenges.

All together the aim of the project is to answer the following questions:

  • Which challenges and opportunities arise when it comes to quality of teaching when Danish master programmes are offered in English?
  • What may be the consequences regarding the professional and academic quality of the teaching when all activities are conducted in English?
  • How do universities work to assure and develop the quality of programmes taught in English?

Methods

As part of this survey we will carry out questionnaire surveys among teachers and students respectively. Too, we will choose four or five master programmes as objects for case studies to be able to go into depth with the universities’ challenges and initiatives.
